San Diego Photographer Moses Slovatizki Earns Master of Photography Degree, Strengthening His Leadership in Wedding, Portrait, and Editorial Photography

San Diego, CA — (2025)Moses Slovatizki, owner and lead photographer of Portraits San Diego, has earned the distinguished Master of Photography (M.Photog.) degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA) — one of the highest honors in the photographic industry. The degree was presented by PPA President Jeff Dachowski, M.Photog.Cr., CPP at Imaging USA in Nashville, TN.

The Master of Photography degree recognizes outstanding photographic excellence demonstrated through image competition, education, and professional service. In 2023, Slovatizki was one of only 113 photographers worldwide to receive this achievement, joining an elite group committed to advancing the craft.

Slovatizki’s career is uniquely rooted in wedding and portrait photography, fine art surf imagery, and award-winning photojournalism. As the founder of Portraits San Diego, he specializes in weddings, family portraits, maternity sessions, engagement photography, and editorial-style events across San Diego County — including La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, and Sunset Cliffs. His approach blends refined portraiture with natural emotion, supported by decades of experience working in fast-paced real-world environments.

Before establishing himself as one of San Diego’s leading portrait and wedding photographers, Slovatizki built an international reputation in the surf world. From his early years photographing waves in Southern California to traveling with elite surfers across Hawaii, Mexico, France, South Africa, and Tahiti, he developed a signature style known for movement, power, and precision. His surf images have appeared globally and have earned placements with major brands including Billabong, O’Neill, Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Body Glove, and Volcom.

In 2023, Slovatizki expanded his career into photojournalism, covering global events for AFP (Agence France-Presse). His coverage included the historic and devastating wildfires in Lahaina and Kula, documenting moments of loss, resilience, and community strength. His AFP work reached audiences worldwide, further cementing his ability to operate at the highest levels of both artistic and editorial photography.

Slovatizki’s photographs have been published in Time Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Surfer, Surfing, Longboard Magazine, Shape, Surfshot, Mundo Rad, ZigZag, and numerous international outlets. His award-winning fine art prints — including his signature ocean images from Hawaii and California — are collected globally and represented in multiple galleries.

Today, through Portraits San Diego, Slovatizki brings all of this experience into every client session. His wedding and portrait work is known for being emotional, elegant, and intentional — the kind of imagery that blends technical mastery with human connection. Whether he is photographing a wedding at Sunset Cliffs, a family in Balboa Park, or a maternity session at Windansea Beach, clients consistently appreciate his calm presence, deep experience, and ability to create beautiful art in every environment.
